Due to its rapid development, C&M has expanded its team once again this year. Sébastien Jottard became a new Project Manager in the Translation Project Management Team. Sébastien Jottard graduated from the Institut Supérieur de Traducteurs et d’Interprètes, ISTI in Brussels. He has worked for several months as a French and English freelance translator for Belgian clients. Sébastien’s cooperation with C&M started in February 2012 with a several-months internship under the Leonardo da Vinci program.

On June 6, two C&M's employees, along with high school students from Legnica, visited the “House of St. Francis” Community Center in Legnica in order to celebrate this year’s Children’s Day with children who usually take part in activities held in this facility. As a part of this charity event, C&M's employees gathered funds in order to purchase gifts for children and equipment for the Community Center. Football and volleyball balls brought the greatest joy to the hearts to the children, followed by dictionaries and teaching aids, as well as gifts made by the students from Legnica. After the gifts were handed on to the children, an artistic performance prepared by the children and students took place. At the end of the meeting, the facility’s Manager introduced the C&M's employees to a very interesting plan of further development and operation of the Community Center. It was a memorable day both for our employees, who personally delivered and handed the gifts on to the children, as well as for all the children themselves. There was no end to joy and emotions. We are proud to announce that the Świat dla Młodych (World for the Young) Foundation was established by Katarzyna Tyszkowska and Michał Tyszkowski in June 2017. The founders are the owners of Centrum Lokalizacji CM. The goal of the foundation is to support young linguistic talents from Lower Silesia by funding the “Świat dla Młodych” (World for the Young) scholarship scheme and to engage in charity activities as well as provide help to children in need. We are convinced that this initiative will further increase the size and scope of our help and charity efforts.

On 18th of May 2017, two employees of Centrum Lokalizacji CM attended the conference organized as part of the Translating Europe Workshops. In line with its title — Current Challenges of Medical Translation — the conference explored the problems of medical translation. The event, along with accompanying workshops, was held at the University of Gdańsk.

Apart from very interesting lectures given by distinguished industry specialists, Marcin Marciniszyn and Bartłomiej Dymek took part in a workshop on translating Polish hospital discharge reports into English.

On March 5th our representatives conducted a training on biochemical translations for the FreeLING. This niche topic raised a lot of interest and resulted in many questions and lively discussions.

Also, on 1st and 2nd of April, CM took part in the Third Congress of the Translators of the Lublin Region. This year, the keynote was the quality of translation. Our experts took active part in the plenary and workshop sessions, sharing their knowledge and discussing with the participants of the Congress under a watchful eye of Michał Tyszkowski, CEO.

Again, our participation in both events proves that Centrum Lokalizacji CM brings together excellent experts who want to share their expertise with others and know-how to do it.

We are proud to announce that Rafał Kiljan, CM Account Manager, has been appointed one of the mentors in the Mentoring Program for students of the University of Wrocław.

As a mentor, Rafał is going to take part in a series of meetings during which he will share his knowledge and expertise on sales and marketing, as well as give advise on the career path of a Mentee of his choice.
His participation in the Mentoring Program is an excellent experience that will undoubtedly become an asset in the daily work of our Sales Department.

On November 20th, Bartłomej Dymek, an employee of Centrum Lokalizacji CM, conducted two 3-hour training sessions for the FreeLING Foundation on translation quality assurance and a translator’s skills and tools optimization. In each of these modules, he addressed some major quality-related and technical aspects, in both theoretical and practical manner.

As part of their efforts to suport development and knowledge, EAMT arranges internships for students from all over the world. CM applies for hosting such internships. The interns shall have the opportunity to participate in MT technology development process.
The internship program includes:

• Introduction to the newest developments in MT
• MT quality evaluation
• Various MT environments
• User-MT system interactions
• MT in combination with other technologies, e.g. translation memories, voice translators, multilingual search engines, multilingual text categorizers, multilingual text summarizers
• MT for challenging language pairs
• New applications of MT in the Internet community

After a fruitful cooperation during the academic year 2015/2016, the University of Wrocław again chose Centrum Lokalizacji CM as the translation internship provider for their German Philology students.

The internship program is a convenient form of cooperation for both University of Wrocław and CM. The students have a chance to learn valuable skills, making it easier for them to be hired as translators. For us, this is a great opportunity to train our prospective employees. One of our last year intern currently works with CM as a translator and proofreader of German language.

We would like to inform you that CM Localization Center has successfully passed an audit attesting to the company’s compliance with the ISO 17100:2015 standard. During the audit that took place in June 2016, no deviation from the standard was found. This means that CM perfectly meets the only existing quality standard in the industry.
